Welcome! Ammo's Art is my little corner of the web to display my artworks. Most of my art is digitally created using various tools, usually Painter XI and a Wacom Cintiq. Some of my other recent work has been dabbles with Copic markers.
I've recently switched to blog format to help me keep my site updated, as I rarely seem to have the time to do it manually these days. There may be a few things missing as I reorganize, so bear with me. For pre-Blog archives, please see the following: Recent archive
- pics from 2008 and 2007 or so.
Daily art archive
- pics from a several years back, when I was attempting one doodle a day.
Graveyard archive
- Really, really, really old stuff. Consider yourself warned.

I think Paul Mounts is my favorite digital colorist right now. If I had realized he’d be at C2E2, I would’ve brought along something to have him sign, along with Amanda Connor. Unfortunately, I must’ve missed seeing his name on the list, and only realized he was there when I saw his name tag. Bummer. Anyway, I tried a few ideas I got from staring at his stuff on the second page.
And the usual copy/pasted babbling from dA:
(page one)
Colored version of page 1. Probably would’ve kept playing around with it, but I had to get it done so I could move on to page 2, and get that done. XD
I changed the title block at the top. Now it’s boring, but I wasn’t too happy with the previous look. I’ll think up something more clever later, or at least for the next comic.
Had a good time with the comic book-style coloring, and also with playing around with a few different ideas here Page 2 should be even more fun (especially because I like how the Doctor turned out on p2 more).
Honestly, it felt like I spent the majority of the time on that scarf. I know that’s not true, but it took longer than I had expected!
(page two)
Rory is in so much trouble, he just doesn’t know it yet.
There, we go.. page 2! Some parts of this felt like they went faster than the first page.
I’m much happier with the final panel of Amy. I think I got a little carried away with her hair and made it maybe a tad too poofy, but it still works much better than the original pic. I like how the expression turned out considering (once again) the original rough was a lot more cartoony.
This was so much fun!
Original line art done in Manga Studio (roughs done in Painter), then brought into Painter for coloring.
I prefer Eleven’s blue tie and shirt combo to his red one. Just sayin’.

I forgot to upload this during my vacation.. this was the first pic I did that week. Again, I used Manga Studio and it went soooo fast. I’m becoming very spoiled by that program.
Anyway, I keep saying I want to do a really, really good pic of Wondy, who I admired as a nerdy child. I wanted to do something with a very “traditional” comic-booky sort of feel, maybe a hint of Perez-homage in there. I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull off the big curly hair, but once I started it just kind of kept going. Lots of fun

Finished the inked art of Renji Abarai from Bleach. Yup. It’s late, I’m tired. Not much else to say right now. This was a lot of fun to do, Serious (but not too serious) Renji = cool.
Manga Studio’s excellently powerful and easy-to-use free transform tool is a Godsend, btw. I would probably have given up on Zabimaru days ago, and left this unfinished
Sorta-quickie-ish fanart from my new favorite webcomic, Gunnerkrigg Court.
This was a paint-up of a doodle I started last night on my iPod Touch. I was going to work it up on there some more, but decided to send it over and finish it in Painter (I’ll probably upload the Touch version into my scraps later). I kept pretty much all of the colors I used for the rough layout from the Touch, so it looks a bit different from my “usual” stuff, which I like. I’m trying to improve my painterly art. I liked the soft moody look, so I tried not to overwork it.
Anyway, this is Annie and Reynardine
…for better or worse.

Two doodles I attempted yesterday – both fairly quick and unpolished. I think I spent so much time trying to make the colors nice, smooth and blendy I forgot how to draw decent faces. >_>
On the left is Vail from Astray, and on the right is my blood elf huntress, Cithara.

<3 Sully
This started from me trying to think of something to showcase Sully a little bit, because there needs to be more Sully. So here is more Sully.
I did most of this yesterday, and finished it off after work today. I got Nate a tad on the thin side – I guess this is more like Nate from U1 as opposed to 2 >_> He totally started working out hardcore to impress ‘Lana anyway.
This is actually a bit of Sully’s bar, too – I looked up ref from it’s appearance in the Playstation Home. XD Wasn’t what I was expecting at first, but it really is quite fitting.
This was so fun and really came together fast.

So, more reminiscing about allllll the old art I drew using openCanvas… a whole gob of it was Star Ocean fanart. So I decided to draw Nel (again) using openCanvas. It’d been a long time. Feels pretty good, but I’m way too spoiled by Painter these days. openCanvas still produces nice clean lines though – especially for me and my scratchy inking technique >_>
I still love the simplicty of her outfit plus the sassy thigh-high boots. Green-eyed Nel is still the best, too. Drew this pretty entirely from memory, phew. Lots of fun. I think originally it was going to be sort of a Adam Hughes-ish take, but changed my mind pretty quickly.

So I’m only a few years late to play Uncharted… I’d heard about it some, but never really got around to checking it out. Reading up on Uncharted 2 got me pretty interested, so I talked my way into getting a copy of Uncharted 1 for my bday XD Now I’m eagerly waiting for a copy of U2 because it was soooo damn fun. <3
Anyway, the pencils in Painter XI are really nice, I hadn’t played around with them too much yet. This took me back to the days where I first started drawing “seriously”, using different sorts of pencils and shaders. Lots of fun, I’m glad I felt like experimenting today
The bit of color is from my original color map I was messing with, when I originally thought I’d give this my usual treatment. It looked interesting after a few adjustments. Also working on my dark/light technique. I’m feeling kind of artsy-fartsy here.

Yes, this is Rock Band “fan art” (does it really count as fanart if it’s our own original band? How confusing).
I present to you.. The Inhumane Society!
Featuring: Rosa Lucks, Vlad “Jon” Lenin, Ballin’ Stalin, and Karl Marks.
Did this today in Painter 11. Bald noggins are not very fun to draw. This was a fun little experiment, however
